Rehabilitation work begins on Monterey Avenue in Patrick City
As I embarked upon becoming the next member of Parliament for this constituency, road rehabilitation was among the greatest demands from residents across Patrick City. When the consultations were done for the selection of Roads within the constituency to be included in this particular project, it was agreed that Patrick City would see two (2) roads undergo major rehabilitation. These roads were Monterey Avenue and Lockhart Avenue.
The hurricane undoubtedly delayed the start of many infrastructure projects and for a while many persons wondered if the funding that had been previously earmarked for the Spark Programme would have been affected by relief and recovery efforts. I am pleased to inform my constituents that this administration has been very diligent and responsible in the management of your affairs, to the extent that we are able to plan and execute recovery efforts without any major deviations from previously budgeted capital projects.
As the work begins on Monterey Avenue, I can signal to the other residents of the constituency that your roads are next. I have seen the messages and posts on Social Media, Emails and on this website inquiring about the remaining roads under the Spark Programme.
The Government has ensured that each constituency was allocated 10 roads under the programme and the start of this project is the 4th rehabilitation to be done under Spark in this constituency. I have listed the other roads in previous posts to ensure that residents can track the progress within our constituency.

Curb Wall and Drainage works being done on Monterey Avenue
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Works have consistently stated that Spark is not a patching project but a comprehensive Road Rehabilitation and Infrastructure Upgrade Programme. This means that the construction process may take more than a few days and may cause minor inconveniences during the work period but the disruptions will be worth the outcomes in the end.
I thank the residents and commuters for their understanding and their support during this period. I can also announce that work has also commenced on Lockhart Avenue and I will be sharing and update on that project shortly. A lot is being done simultaneously and I am pleased to be able to deliver for the many thousands of residents within this community on behalf of the Government of Jamaica.
